Motion Trio: a Polish accordion trio which combines the fire of music having Eastern European roots with the icy precision of great classical composers. Full of passion, the music of Motion Trio has been appreciated by such contemporary masters like Michael Nyman, Wojciech Kilar, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Bobby McFerrin AND Joe Zawinul.
Motion Trio’s original repertoire is created by members of the band, in particular the leader, Janusz Wojtarowicz, as well as Paweł Baranek and Marcin Gałażyn.
The band was established twenty five years ago and in its artistic route moved from concerts in the streets of Europe through to the greatest concert halls in the world, including, without limitation, the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Barbican Center in London and Konzerthaus in Vienna. It is known for its extraordinary original tone of trio, which is achieved, most importantly, without loss of the sound of accordion and without processing, other instruments, or tricks of technique.
The artists only rely on their excellent abilities to play accordions, their imagination and talent. The music of Motion Trio combines minimal music, jazz, rock, folk, i.e. “motion music”, which is defined by Janusz Wojtarowicz as “the music that searches for new sounds, new accordion playing possibilities, new look at the fascinating instrument, which has not been used to date”.
Thirteen albums published so far by the band have won widespread recognition, received commendations and awards from critics of both jazz and classical music.
Motion Trio has performed in forty four countries on all continents. The band plays Pigini Sirius Millenium instruments, which are considered to be the best accordions in the world.
